Businesses choosing to locate within the City of Salinas have a number of federal, regional, and local options available.

Grow Salinas Fund

The City of Salinas and the Grow America Fund have established and capitalized the Grow Salinas Fund as an economic development tool designed to assist eligible small businesses within the City of Salinas to obtain the financing required to grow their business.  The Grow Salinas Fund can make loans ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 to eligible small businesses at or below market rates.  Loan money can be used for Working Capital, Machinery and Equipment, Tenant Improvements, Acquisition of Real Estate, and/or Construction/Renovation costs.  Please review the brochure below for more information regarding this particular program.

PG&E Economic Development Rate

Electricity and gas service to the City of Salinas is currently provided by Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E).  PG&E offers an economic development rate to commercial or industrial users of at least 200 kW of electricity that have either newly located in California or would be forced to relocate out of state without the incentive.  Generally, this represents a 12% discount for 5 years; however, businesses in the City of Salinas have historically been able to access a 30% discount for 5 years rate based upon its unemployment rate.  Please view the following links or contact City of Salinas or PG&E staff for more information.
