Headquartered in Salinas, Taylor Fresh Foods and its Taylor Farms operating companies were founded by Salinas-native Bruce Taylor and several partners in 1995. Today the company is the world’s largest producer of salads, fresh cut vegetables, cut fruit and fresh snacks and ready-to-go meals. With a focus on high quality and customer-focused innovation, Taylor has grown to 14 operating companies across North America, serving the leading foodservice, retail produce and retail deli customers.
In addition, Taylor Farms partners with some of the leading growers in the Salinas Valley. These rich agricultural assets have helped Taylor Farms flourish and helped Salinas earn the nickname, “The Salad Bowl of the World”.
Taylor Farms employs 2,500 people in Salinas, in addition to its 4,500 employees in North America and continues to be on the forefront of food safety through cutting-edge technology, research and innovation.
In 2012, the company broke ground in downtown Salinas on a 97,000 square foot building that will be completed in 2014. The building will house approximately 200 Taylor Farms team members and is expected to help revitalize the downtown area. It will feature restaurants and retail stores on the ground floor and a public plaza – giving a boost to the downtown economy and hospitality industry.
Taylor Farms is the first agricultural company to locate its headquarters in downtown Salinas and is hoping to inspire other companies to do the same.
