Salinas named 'All-American City' for 2015

    DENVER, Co -

With the chant, "SA-LI-NAS!" the delegates accepted the 2015 'All-America City' award on Sunday night.

The National Civic League was founded in 1894 to promote democracy, community engagement and support a stronger union through community activism and youth leadership.

In announcing Salinas as one of ten 'All-America City' recipients the National Civic League had this to say about Salinas, "This community has taken a community-wide approach in reducing gang violence. This community's youth are taking the lead in changing perceptions and promoting health and well-being. This community takes an entrepreneurial approach to solving complex and critical challenges."

"All-America City Award winners inspire other communities with a sense of hope and purpose," said National Civic League President Gloria Rubio-Cortés. "They are leading the way when it comes to innovative efforts to promote positive community change."
